Legal Issues for Visual Artists:
Copyright and Intellectual Property
A Seminar with Sarah Feingold, ESQ.
Saturday, May 1, 2010 from 2 to 4 p.m.
Hunterdon County Library, 314 State Rt. 12, Bldg. #3, Flemington, NJ
Free to members and guests - pre-registration required.

When artists create a work of art, they may automatically have intellectual property rights to certain design elements. Attorney and jewelry-maker, Sarah Feingold, will provide attendees with helpful information concerning the types of intelletual property protection available to artists; how to obtain this protection; and the rights artists have even if they take no formal action to protect their intellectual property. This one and one-half hour seminar will be illustrated with a PowerPoint presentation and be followed by a question-and-answer period.

Topics Covered:

  • Intellectual property
  • Infringement
  • Copyright
  • Idea versus expression
  • Trademark
  • Patent
  • Design patent
  • Contract
  • Trade secret

Each attendee will receive an outline of the presentation and additional information for obtaining U.S. copyright registration for a group of artwork.
